Secrets To Make Your Eyelash Extensions Last Longer

Lash extensions are addictive…you heard it here first.

The first time they go on you wonder what you were doing P.L.E (pre lash extensions) and get excited for the amazing moments you know you’ll experience now you have those bad boys on.

For those as fanatic as us about their beautiful lashes, we have 5 tips on extending out their shelf life so you get the best out of them.

Sleep on your back

It may sound like we’re asking you to do the impossible, but the best thing for your lash extensions is to make sure you sleep on your back as much as possible. The friction caused from your lashes and cotton rubbing will cause premature shedding of your lashes, especially on the side you prefer to sleep on! We stock the best silk pillowcases on the market so as to minimise your lash shedding.

Don’t get them wet 48 hours after application

The adhesive used to glue on your lashes needs at least 24-48 hours to dry. To be safe, avoid excessive heat for the first couple of days as well, including hairdryers, bikram yoga, saunas and so on- due to excessive sweat. Once you can get them wet, make sure you comb them out so they keep their shape.

Use the correct products

Oil based products are the number one reason people find that their lashes don’t last as long. Cleansers such as 'Prolong Lash Complete Care' cleanser is formulated specifically for eyelash extensions and is oil free, and stocked at our salon.

Refrain from rubbing and touching your lashes

It sounds simple but a lot of people habitually touch their natural lashes and find they’re doing the same with their extensions. Natural oils from your finger plus the tugging won’t do you any favours if you’re after longevity.

Keep them combed!

Don’t let your lashes loose their shape and appearance by neglecting to comb them out. We supply you with a small comb after every session to make sure your lashes are kept in tip top shape until the refill rolls around!

The Arch Stylist is now stocking Slip Pillowslips!

We know the importance of beauty sleep, so we’ve made it easier for you to get your ZZZs and still look fabulous!

The Arch Stylist has tracked down the world’s most sought after, 100% silk pillow slips to make sleep time even more heavenly.

Not only do they look luxe, they have several benefits, not just for your brows but your skin and hair too:

Minimizes Sleep Creases

Ever woken up with a 'sleep-crease' on your face?  While the creases usually go away later the same day, they are an indication of the damage done to your face when sleeping on a cotton pillowcase.

Sleep creases aren't just temporary. Over time they become ironed wrinkles. Since Slip was started in 2004 we've heard countless times from people with years of chronic sleep crease completely disappears after the very first night.

Say Goodbye To Bed Head

A secret that hairdressers and movie stars have known for decades, silk pillowcases are infinitely gentler on your hair than cotton.

Cotton grabs your hair and twists it at the root throughout the night, damaging hair and causing bed-head in the morning, whereas silk is so gentle on your hair, it allows your hairstyle/blow-dry to last overnight, which is great news for people with hair extensions, curly hair, fragile hair and anyone wanting to maintain the integrity of their hair.

Gentle On Your Hair

Cotton draws moisture from your hair, drying it out and further contributing to bed-head. Unfortunately 'bed-head' is not only an inconvenience, but a symptom of something more serious.

The same rough treatment that causes bed-head can also damage your hair follicles, leading to thinner, less healthy hair.

Hydrates Your Skin

Cotton is very absorbent. It can hold 24-27 times its own weight in water. This mean it actually draws moisture away from you skin, drying it out stealing your expensive face crème in the process!

When you sleep on silk, your delicate facial skin is more hydrate in the morning.
Don't forget to pack your slip when travelling. Just one night back on cotton an you'll really notice the difference in the morning.

Silk Breathes

It's a natural temperature regulator, so it's cooler in summer and doesn't sweat like synthetic satin and other man-made imitations.  Synthetic satin (e.g. polyester) may feel nice and soft in your hand, but after an 8 hour sleep your hair and facial skin can really feel the difference.

Silk Is Natural

Slip is the perfect choice for people with allergies. Silk is naturally dust mite resistant. It's also hypoallergenic... at least it is when strict production standards are enforced, including the use of non-toxic dyes
